This isn’t our first rodeo. We’ve been in the trenches, launching, scaling, and shaking up the cannabis game before. In 2021, we came back with Story Cannabis — a new chapter, stacked with a crew of industry vets, and an even bigger vision. Is cannabis legal for recreational use in Maryland?
Yes. Adult-use cannabis has been legal since July 1, 2023 and is overseen by the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA).
What are the possession limits for recreational use in Maryland?
Up to 1.5 ounces of flower, 12 grams of concentrates, or 750 mg THC in edibles (the “personal-use amount”).
Where can I consume cannabis legally in Maryland?
On private property. Public consumption and consumption in vehicles are prohibited; do not use on federal property.
What forms of cannabis products are available?
Flower, pre-rolls, vapes/concentrates, edibles, tinctures, capsules, and topicals (availability varies by store).
Do visitors from out of state have access to adult-use?
Yes. Anyone 21+ with valid government-issued ID may purchase adult-use cannabis.
Can I drive after consuming cannabis?
No. Driving while impaired (and consuming in a vehicle) is illegal.
Can I bring Maryland-purchased cannabis over state lines or onto federal land?
No. Interstate transport and possession on federal property are prohibited.
How much can I buy at once?
Sales are limited to the personal-use amount per transaction.
What ID do I need at the dispensary?
A valid, government-issued photo ID showing you are 21+.
Are adult-use purchases taxed?
Yes. Adult-use cannabis is subject to Maryland’s cannabis sales tax at checkout.
Is delivery or pickup available in Maryland?
Delivery: Allowed via appropriately licensed retailers (e.g., delivery-authorized/micro-dispensary models); availability varies by area.
Pickup: Yes—many dispensaries offer online order-ahead with in-store pickup.
