Beginning July 1, 2023, adults 21 and over will be legally authorized to purchase recreational cannabis in Maryland. While the industry will continue to service medical patients, new customers will no longer be required to have a medical card. Maryland is the first state in the DMC to allow adult use cannabis. This change will allow more customers to access safe, state tested, cannabis products. This also allows us to expand our community, inviting a wider spectrum of individuals, including devoted patients and passionate plant enthusiasts, to join our Story. Where can I purchase legal cannabis?
Beginning July 1, Maryland residents may purchase cannabis from licensed dispensaries including our established locations:

Do I need an ID to purchase cannabis?
Yes, to purchase cannabis, you must be 21 years of age or older and present a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID to prove your age. We accept the following:
- State Driver’s License (from any state)
- Non-driver’s State Photo ID card
- US Military ID Card
- US Passport
- US Passport Card
- Foreign Passport
- Tribal Card
- Non-compliant Driver’s License
- Non-compliant ID Card
What about my medical card?
Starting from July 1, 2023, a 9% tax will be implemented on all recreational Adult Use purchases. However, if you hold a medical cannabis card, your retail experience will remain unchanged, and it’s important to note that medical cardholders are exempt from the 9% tax applied to recreational cannabis purchases.
Can dispensaries deliver cannabis to me?
Currently, home delivery is not allowed for adult use customers.
Can I smoke cannabis anywhere I want?
No, No, No, cannabis cannot be smoked or consumed in public. Consumption should be in a private residence.
What about driving under the influence?
To ensure compliance, it is crucial to always abide by the law. Specifically, when operating any type of motorized vehicle such as a moped, motor scooter, motorbike, watercraft, or motorized boat, it is strictly prohibited for the driver to be under the influence of any form of cannabis. Furthermore, it is important to note that smoking cannabis in the passenger area of a motor vehicle is strictly prohibited for all occupants.
Can I get in trouble at work for having cannabis in my system?
Despite the legalization of cannabis for recreational use, it is important to note that employers retain the right to uphold a drug-free and alcohol-free environment within the workplace. However, it’s worth mentioning that registered qualified medical cannabis patients are afforded certain protections against discrimination as employees.
I was previously convicted of possessing cannabis, does this law change anything for me?
The state’s new guidelines include a significant provision: the expungement program. Under this program, records related to cases solely involving simple possession of cannabis will be automatically expunged from the criminal records database by July 1, 2024. However, if you prefer not to wait, you have the option to apply for immediate expungement if your case meets the qualifying criteria.
